Welcome to the site. Here's some background on the development of the unique teaching style of our Acting Studio:
Several years ago, teaching Meisner technique at ActOne Studio in Chicago, I was working with a fellow Meisner teacher named Cat Hart. We decided we wanted to start teaching a class called "Meisner without the Madness." We were both awed by the power of Meisner technique and simultaneously dissatisfied with Meisner's harsh and confrontational teaching style. We decided to teach the technique with kindness, compassion and clarity.
Since then I have made it a point to meet the student where the student is in his/her development. I wanted to enhance the student's own creativity and create a safe nurturing environment for students to explore both Meisner and Linklater technique to create deep connection between scene partners and a deep connection for each actor with his/her inner creative Self. I wanted a class environment that was co-operative rather than competitive, where the incoming student feels like he/she is entering a supportive community of creative partners.
Five years later, these goals have become a reality at my studio.
Come and check us out.
